WOOD FINISH TOP COATS

Picking the right top coat is essential to making sure that your projects not only last, but also come out looking the way you want. We offer both water-based and oil-based topcoats.

WATER-BASED TOP COATS

There are a few advantages to using this type of top coat. Water-based top coats have a very low-odor unlike oil-based top coats, which makes them the better choice for indoor applications where air circulation is not ideal. Water-based topcoats will generally dry completely clear, with the exception of Enduro-Var which will amber the wood in a similar fashion to oil-based topcoats.

OIL-BASED TOP COATS

Oil-based top coats require 24+ hours in between coats. The advantage to this is that oil-based topcoats result in a harder finish, which is good for ultra high-gloss applications, especially where polishing is desired. During the drying process this type of topcoat will give the wood an amber hue.
