Jointer Hand Plane
The Perfect Tool for Flattening and Jointing a Workpiece!
The Jointer Plane is a long plane (approx. 24"), the body made of beech with a hornbeam sole. It's long length and wide blade make it suitable for flattening the face and jointing the edge of a workpiece.
The plane is equipped with an ergonomic handle at the back of the body. It uses a 60 mm (2.3") steel alloy blade with a chipbreaker.
In the production process, special attention is given to the blade seat and mortise of the body. The plane mortise is designed to prevent the clogging of the plane mouth with wood shavings whereas the mouth is narrow enough to prevent the chipping of the flattened surface.
This traditional-style plane uses a wedge to secure the blade. The blade projection, angle, and wedge tightness are adjusted with light taps using a mallet. The metal striker button at the top facilitates blade removal with the tap of a mallet. We recommend our 101-757 or 101-758 Delrin-tipped brass mallet.
Blade may require initial flattening of the back and honing before use.
600 x 80 x 150mm (23.6" x 3.1" x 5.9") with 60mm (2.3") blade bedded at 45°. Made for us by a European company that has been making hand tools for over 100 years. The 60mm-wide (2.3") blade is made of steel alloy CrV hardened and tempered to 58HRC. The blade is coated with oil and delivered in shrink wrap. The durability of the blade and sharpeness is significantly extended.
