Stunning Accuracy With the Precision Miter Trimmer

Precision Miter Trimmer

Creating perfect 45° miters has never been easier. The Miter Trimmer is ideal for making professional quality picture frames, mitered cabinet doors, mitered trim pieces, or for when you simply need to cleanly and accurately trim a workpiece to final length.

Infinity's Precision Miter Trimmer

If you're like most woodworkers you know that it can be difficult to cut mitered workpieces. Cutting to the perfect length on the first try, or even the second, is tricky. Even more difficult is making the second cut at the miter saw or table saw. Shaving off that last little bit for a perfect fit never quite works. This is where the Precision Miter trimmer (101-612) saves the day. It makes it easy to cut perfect miters and leaves a glass-smooth finish every time.

Cast Iron Construction

The Precision Miter trimmer (101-612) is a tool most commonly seen in picture frame shops, for good reason, almost every cut on a picture frame is a 45° miter. This Precision Miter Trimmer is made of sturdy cast iron and weighs in at a solid 32 pounds. Both of the cast-iron fences have dedicated stops at 45° and 90° and can be set anywhere in between. The two high carbon steel blades measure a massive 1/4" thick and come razor sharp right out of the box. I know, everybody always says their tools are razor sharp and ready to work. Honestly, these blades have the keenest factory edge of any tool I have had the pleasure of using. So, when you use your Precision Miter Trimmer for the first time, be careful!

With a long cast-iron handle, the Precision Miter Trimmer can take shaving from paper-thin to extra thick.

Aggressive Shear Angle

The blades are set at a steep 45° shearing angle that allows them to slice off paper-thin shavings or chop off material like a lumberjack's ax. This shearing action paired with the long cast iron handle allows controlled and effortless cuts both thick and thin. Also, the handle fits into a dovetailed receiver so it can be easily installed and removed without tools for easy storage.

The cast-iron fences allow cuts anywhere from 90° to 45° and can cut both left and right-handed for the ultimate versatility.

Not Just For Pine

I get asked all the time if the Precision Miter Trimmer is just for the pine and poplar moldings you see in picture frame shops. The answer is, absolutely not. While the miter trimmer slices these soft species without missing a beat, we use ours on wood including Maple, Walnut, Cherry, Oak, and even Hickory. Not to mention, it also has an impressive cut capacity. Cutting a 1x6 (3/4" x 5-1/2")  at 90° is no problem. And, at 45° the miter trimmer can handle a 2x4 (1-1/2" x 3-1/2") without missing a beat. This ability to cut large workpieces and furniture grade hardwoods make it extremely versatile.

Top-Trim Attachment

We're now offering an extra accessory for the miter trimmer that allows working from the inside of a molding or frame piece. Often we mark our cut-mark on the inside of the frame to be more precise, but when we get to the trimmer, the mark can't be seen. This top-trim accessory holds the workpiece in place and allows easy view of our inside mark.
