The bullnose is a very common edge treatment in woodworking that is used on almost everything, from small mail slot dividers in desk drawers to stair treads to window sills. You can probably find at least one bullnose edge in the very room you're sitting in right now.

While a bullnose edge can be made with a Roundover and Beading Router Bit in two passes, a Bullnose Router Bit offers some distinct advantages. Infinity Tools offers two different types of Bullnose Router Bits: bearing-guided and non-bearing guided. Both of these styles are available in six different sizes, from 1/4" to 1-1/8" in diameter. Both types have their places in the workshop.

The first advantage of a Bullnose Router Bit over a Roundover Router bit is efficiency. A bullnose edge made in a single pass saves time, especially if you are making a lot of edge cuts. The next time you need to make a batch of stair treads or window sills for a house, you'll be happy to save half the time by making only one cut per edge with a bullnose router bit.

The second advantage: you can get a perfectly rounded edge without a small flat spot at the apex of the radius. This can be an issue when using a Roundover Router Bit to cut two sides of a board. If you use a roundover router bit, you won't have to spend a lot of time trying to set the exact height of the to eliminate the flat spot.

Bearing-guided Bullnose Router Bits are perfect for use in the router table. The bearing makes setting the fence quick and easy, but it also allows the bit to be used for template routing, which allows you to bullnose the edge of curved pieces.

Bullnose Router Bits that don't have bearings can also be used in CNC machines, and are a perfect choice when you need to get into tight places. Regardless of the type, all Infinity Tools Bullnose Router Bits are laser marked with the bit's bead height to make it easy to identify the thickness of material the bit is designed to work with.

Since they have a shoulder cutter on both the top and bottom of the bit, Bullnose Router Bits can also be used to make bead profiles on the edges of boards. These shoulder cutters create the standing bead on the edge of a workpiece which can either be left in place or ripped free and used as a separate molding detail.
