"I recently finished a project with 14 raised panels. I raised them with your insert panel cutter. Over the years, I have used many different "premium" cutters. Yours is by far the best I have ever used. I congratulate you on this superb system."

"I have recently purchased the Infinity Combo-Max saw blade and Glue Joint Router Bit. I am totally pleased with these tools. I have owned many different saw blades and router bits in my 50 years of woodworking and these rank among the best I have owned."
Our multi-ring insert plate is made from a tough thermoset phenolic compound that is guaranteed not to bend or warp under pressure.
Detailed Description
This Rousseau insert plate is LARGE, measuring 9" x 12" and is a full 3/8" thick. The system includes two color coded insert rings that create a 2-5/8" or 1-1/4" opening. Remove the rings and you can use up to a 3-7/8" diameter router bit. For extra versatility, the inside diameter of the smallest ring (grey) fits our brass template guide kits. Comes with a shoulder pin for safe freehand (fence-free) routing.
Other features include:
*Precision self-leveling system.
*Concentric rings & radial lines for centering plate on router.
*Molded with slight crown for distortion-free cuts.
*Corner Snuggers ensure a tight fit in table opening.
Probably great for trim carpenters or anyone wanting to bevel up some timber. Its solid and held my Fein router no problem.
The rings are an absolute pig to remove, requiring drifting out from underneath with a hefty hammer whack via a thick dowel or similar. Scary.
The main problem is that crown that the makers like to make such a virtue of.
The trouble is, its not just the centre of the plate thats high - its the mid point of each side, so no matter how you raise, lower or level the plate there is ALWAYS a step on or off the plate in every possible configuration. This is probably not an issue for a lot of users, but I wanted to make dovetailed fine boxes with an incra jig and the Rousseau plate makes this impossible, or at least it did for me.
When I upgraded to an Incra magnaLock plate which is a different size and necessitated cutting a new table with an impossibly wide-radius corner rabbet, all the problems went away.
That said, the Rousseau plate is MUCH easier to sink into a table - just make an mdf frame around it and use it to guide a half-inch pattern bit, Job done. Its also inexpensive, robust and it holds your router firmly in place.
Would I recommend it?
Not for what I want to do, and I wish Id read a review like this before I bought one that pointed out that I needed a FLAT plate. If, however your interests are elsewhere and you arent freaked by the ring-removal process, Id say it could be a pretty good buy.
Yes I spell funny - Im in England.
