Our HSS Planer and Jointer knives are forged from a premium grade of European high speed tool steel. The famed Bohler steel mill in Austria makes this high-chromium tool steel for us in the same location where the company was founded in 1446. It's extreme resistance to abrasion and wear make it the ideal material for woodworking.

But using ultra-premium material is just part of our secret, the production process we use sets us apart. We temper this special steel in a 3-chamber vacuum furnace and then oil quench to form a perfectly uniform knife with added toughness & shock resistance. This exclusive process is more costly than inferior methods but it optimizes stress reduction and increases the longevity of each knife we produce. Finally, we precision grind each knife to a razor finish to insure you get a perfect cut.
